On August 16, 2022, we launched the very first version of Chapa with a mission to revolutionize the payment experience in Ethiopia. Fast forward two years, and we’re celebrating not just another year of growth but a remarkable journey filled with innovation, collaboration, and success.

Today, Chapa processes over 228,000 successful transactions daily—imagine the entire population of a town like Bahir Dar making payments every single day. With 2.64 transactions happening every second, it’s like the hustle and bustle of Merkato, never slowing down, day and night. But what we’re most proud of is the community of developers who’ve been at the heart of our journey.
